Cwrs Rhith Ionawr 2026 ~ Virtual Welsh Course January 2026 ~

Registration is open.

We invite you to register for our annual Winter virtual Cwrs! This will be a mini-course featuring three levels of Welsh: Beginners/Mynediad, Intermediate/Canolradd, and Advanced/Uwch. Three sessions per level are available over the weekend of January 23 through to January 25, you can sign up for one, two, or all three sessions at your desired level. Sessions will be 90 minutes each, and will take place using Zoom.

In contrast to our usual in person course structure, the Cwrs Rhith (Virtual Course) will be in an informal “siop siarad” format, with activities and conversation topics created by each individual tutor.

Registration

You may register for one, two, or all three sessions at your desired level. Sessions are $25 each. If you register for more than one, you’ll receive a $5 discount on each session!

Registered participants are all invited to attend the guest speaker presentation Saturday 24th 4.30pm EST given by Robert Humphries PT Director of the Great Plains Welsh Heritage Centre on “Y Drych: The History of North America’s Oldest Welsh Newspaper”

Tutors

Owen Saer - Beginner/Mynediad

Brodor o Gaerdydd yw Owen Saer, sy’n ymddiddori yn frwd mewn ieithoedd a cherddoriaeth. Bu’n athro ar Gwrs Madog bedair gwaith bellach: Ontario 2014, Portland Oregon 2015, Vermont 2023, a Wisconsin 2024. Cafodd amser wrth ei fodd bob tro, ac edrycha ymlaen at ddod acw eto ryw ddydd. Dysgodd Owen hefyd ar Gwrs Rhith Madog yn 2021 ac yn 2025.Mae’n parhau â’r gwaith o redeg cwmni glanhau domestig yng Nghaerdydd, tra’n dysgu Cymraeg i oedolion unigol, ac yn ymgymryd ag ambell i weithgaredd cerddorol yma ac acw.

A native of Cardiff, Owen Saer has a keen interest in languages and music. He has taught on Cwrs Madog four times: Ontario 2014, Portland Oregon 2015, Vermont 2023, and Wisconsin 2024. He enjoyed the course greatly every time.

He continues to run his domestic cleaning business in Cardiff, while teaching Welsh to some individual adults, and engaging in the occasional musical activity here and there.

Mared Lewis - Intermmediate/Sylfaenol

Mae Mared Lewis yn byw ar Ynys Môn gyda’i theulu ac yn diwtor Cymraeg ers dros deng mlynedd, gyda phrofiad o ddysgu ar-lein a wyneb yn wyneb. Mae hi wedi bod yn diwtor ar gwrs Cymdeithas Madog yn Wisconsin. Mae hi hefyd yn awdur llyfrau Cymraeg ac wedi ysgrifennu nofelau i ddysgwyr fel rhan o’r gyfres ‘Amdani’.

Mae ei nofel ddiweddaraf i ddysgwyr, ‘Dail Te’ ar gyfer lefel Sylfaen.

Mae hi yn mwynhau trio cadw’n fit, darllen a mynd am dro efo’i chi bach du.

Mared Lewis lives on Anglesey with her family and has been a Welsh tutor for over ten years, with experience of online and face-to-face learning. She was a tutor on the Cymdeithas Madog course in Wisconsin.

She is also the author of Welsh books and has written novels for learners as part of the ‘Amdani’ series.

Her latest novel for learners, ‘Dail Te,’ is for Foundation level.

She enjoys trying to keep fit, reading and going for walks with her little black dog.

Llinos Griffin - Advance/Uwch

 

Llinos Griffin is an experienced tutor of Welsh, and has taught in Spain, France and Patagonia.  She currently teaches Welsh to people across the globe on-line, including Welsh sessions for visitors to her area held in the picturesque former Gunpowder Works in Penrhyndeudraeth, where language, history and nature become one.

Mae Llinos Griffin yn diwtor Cymraeg ers dros 12 mlynedd bellach ac wedi gweithio yn Yr Wladfa ac yng nghanolfan iaith genedlaethol Nant Gwrtheyrn cyn dechrau ei busnes ei hun yn dysgu Cymraeg ar-lein i bobl o bedwar ban byd ers 2014. Yn byw ym Mhenrhyndeudraeth, Gwynedd, mae hi hefyd yn cynnig gwersi Cymraeg i ymwelwyr sy’n dod ar eu gwyliau i’r ardal. Yn ei hamser sbar, mae hi’n mwynhau cerdded ym mynyddoedd Eryri, gwneud gwaith celf, darllen a theithio.
