Lluniau o Gymru

Pictures of Wales

Wales is a land of great beauty. From the peak of Eryri ("Mount Snowdon") to the cymoedd ("vales") of South Wales, there are few lands with such dramatic scenery. Here is just a taste of Wales in pictures.

Camlas Langollen / The Llangollen Canal

The Llangollen canal runs from Llangollen, over the spectacular Telford aqueduct at Pontcysyllte, and across the border to join up with the Grand Canal. Originally designed to haul goods, it is now enjoyed by holiday makers in rented motorized canal barges. For those looking to spend a pleasant couple of hours, it is possible to ride aboard the "Thomas Telford" canal boat from Llangollen, across the Pontcysyllte aqueduct 130 feet above the River Dee, to Froncysyllte. It's a great 2-hour ride with many lovely views.
